I'll be moving out to Burbank, CA in a couple weeks to start a new gig at Cartoon Network. I'm doing prop and character designs for a new show called Adventure Time.
These drawings are from the design test that sealed the deal:

hey congrats on adventure time design job tom! the animated short was awesome. i hope the series is just as good if not better!
ALGEBRAIC!
good luck man!
Great news!! Can't wait for this show now - that short was my fav of '07. Very funny stuff I know your work will do it justice!
that's awesome. congrats, man.
wooo!
lots of comments...
Thanks y'all. Phil- don't act so surprised!
And Pat Linehan! Is that really you? It's been a long time- nice to hear from you.
Anyway-
I don't know much about the series yet, but I know it's gonna be a lot heavier on the fantasy Dungeons & Dragons type stuff. And they've got Dan "Ghostshrimp" James kicking out some really great detailed backgrounds. Should be rad.
Woah great drawings.
NY is sorry to lose you to CA.
I especially love that last drawing of the plant girl. I hope they let you run free with your designs.
I haven't seen the short mentioned but I will be keeping an eye out for this now that you're involved. I'll pile me late well wishes on top of the rest. Good luck.
Holly shit!
That's awesome Tom.
At least we'll be on the same coast.
You gotta show up in canada when you get a break.

Thanks again everybody. I'll keep y'all updated on how things go.
I'm trying to figure the odds on whether you'll ever come back again... Someone help me out here? It's sexy in LA. Are you ready for the sexy?
Hey Tom-
That's awesome...we might be neighbors...We should hang.

My goodness! I'd given up hope for whacked-out children's television after the Adventure Time short made its rounds and flared out with nary a suggestion of syndication. And now, to find out that one of my favorite illustrators is on the team - what joy! Good luck to you, to it, everyone and everything!
Fantastic work, man.
Thanks again everybody-
I'm out in Burbank, but haven't started work yet.
I'm typing this at the library. There's a guy across from me who's been sorta vibrating and smiling and looking at the ceiling for about twenty minutes, and there's an ant crawling around on my computer.
Anyways- hopefully I'll have more stuff to post in a week or so.
Good luck! I heart cartoon network!
Wow, your drawings are incredible! I'll be keeping an eye out on Cartoon Network for the show. Good luck!

cartoon network is the best ever.i am 23 years ols but my facination for some carttons havent ended.
Cool sketches! I really like them... but they really remind me of the rubbish dump lady from The Labyrinth?
Junk lady
Very inventive, and a bit spooky. Kinda' weird how you can convey your views of a subject, in a sketch.
Take the 2nd one, for instance. I take it, that's your/a view of 'Mommy Hood.' Kinda' true, on one level. But there are other sides. Not all days are as bad as the one, that poor 'Mommy' is having. ,-)
And although the effect of your work, doesn't take very long to register -- I fully appreciate how long and how inventive must be the process, of putting it on paper.
Applause!
And I'd most likely never have come across this blog, if not for you being designated 'Blog Of Note' by Blogger. Which you are, today. Enjoy your explosion of Comments. :-)))
