Pencil versions

Here are the unmodified pencil/ink versions of a few of my recent pieces. Although a lot is gained when the color is eventually added, a little something is always lost too.

Hey I really love your stuff! I was wondering when you add color how do you stop the pencil from smearing and mixing with the watercolors?

There's a few different ways I go about it, but in every case I'm painting on a scanned and reprinted version of the linework, not the original pencils. Sometimes I'll composite the color and original pencils, sometimes just use the painted print. It's all done in Photoshop.
