doubler
A character from an old sci-fi novel. The general situation is that this team of astronauts crash lands on an alien planet. They explore all this mysterious weird architecture and debate about whether it would make any sense to try to analyze what they're experiencing with a human system of logic.

Thats brootal!
thanks luke-
have you read it? Not all it could've been... Turned out that the alien society was a lot like our own. Boring...
I haven't. I've read a couple of Lems' novels and liked them. THE FUTUROLOGICAL CONGRESS was especially cool.
i just read in the biography of Philip K. Dick about how when PKD recieved a letter from Lem, he came up with a couple of theories: Lem was not one guy, but a Communist Cultural group meant to inflitrate the world of sci-fi, and that b) Lem was attempting to lure PKD to Poland in order to brainwash him into a Commie drone..
Whatta guy.
"Communist Cultural group" - Like a think tank.
I just read a review of that PKD book where the reviewer basically just catalogued all the ways in which Dick was a big asshole. There were lots.
I liked the part about how he cruised psych wards looking for ugly crazy women to date.
