Here's a few monster concept highlights from season one of Adventure Time. The demon cat was for Dungeon, and the Crystal Guardian for Tree Trunks. And the wood man eventually became the sign monsters in Tree Trunks. The goblins and the stag demon were for that one too, but didn't get used. I can't remember what the swamp ape was for (possibly Tree Trunks- I guess I was on a roll at the time), but whatever it was, it didn't get used either...

Spectacular!
great stuff on your blog!
This talks to me a lot !
Thanks fellas.
I think this is the last of the season 1 design/concept stuff that's worth showing off.
Hopefully in a couple months the episodes I storyboarded on for season 2 will start airing, and I can start putting some of the nicer panels and sequences from those up here.
yeah this is great stuff. though i'm surprised adventure time gets aired. soo creepy/awesome
These are fantastic illustrations and uber duper creatively nifty!
Me likey.
Wow love those designs so much! Respect!
I e-mailed you regarding the usage of those designs for my thesis about monsters in illustration.
Yay I like these! you do things that get on telly!
What happened to putting up concept designs from later seasons of the show? I was really looking forward to seeing them. These guys feel like strange dream friends.
Thanks everybody.
Alison: I switched from being a designer to a storyboard artist after the first season, so there aren't too many concept drawings after this batch. I can probably dig up a few- I'll look into it soon (I'm gonna be on the road for a while.)
You are a great designer, I really love your job on Adventure Time, the last episode ("You made me") was great, I loved the end.
